Implementing SeloVerde and CAR 2.0 Platforms in Acre
Transparency and Traceability Systems for Livestock Supply Chains in Acre
Acre is home to rich biodiversity and implements innovative conservation policies, such as payments for ecosystem services. While agricultural production drives economic growth, it has historically contributed to increased deforestation. Simultaneously, only 1% of nearly 50,000 registered rural properties have been analyzed to date. Thus, this project aims to establish partnerships to provide free and transparent tools to the State of Acre, focusing on the assessment of socio-environmental compliance for all private rural properties involved in supply chains with potential deforestation risks. Additionally, it seeks to accelerate the analysis of environmental registrations through automated CAR assessments.

METHODOLOGY
To assess the risk of fire spread, a model will be developed on the DINAMICA EGO platform that predicts fire behavior in the state based on an ignition point and a set of environmental variables. The results will be disseminated in the form of texts and videos directed to key actors and local media informing about fire risks and damages, in order to help the competent authorities to promptly prevent forest fires. Furthermore, as a form of social awareness and provision of technical assistance, landowners will be encouraged to adopt better land use practices that reduce the risk of fires.
RESULTS
Shortly.
