Implementating SeloVerde platform and
CAR 2.0 in Tocantins
Transparency and Traceability Systems for Livestock Supply Chains in Tocantins
Tocantins, the youngest state in Brazil, is part of the Matopiba region, the country’s current agricultural frontier. In this project, we propose to adapt and implement the Selo Verde and CAR 2.0 in the state, developing these tools in close collaboration with the state government.
METHODOLOGY
To assess the risk of fire spread, a model will be developed on the DINAMICA EGO platform that predicts fire behavior in the state based on an ignition point and a set of environmental variables. The results will be disseminated in the form of texts and videos directed to key actors and local media informing about fire risks and damages, in order to help the competent authorities to promptly prevent forest fires. Furthermore, as a form of social awareness and provision of technical assistance, landowners will be encouraged to adopt better land use practices that reduce the risk of fires.
RESULTS
Shortly.
